Hamptons Restaurant Preview - New Restaurants For 2007
Memorial Day Weekend is hours away--do you know where you'll be eating this summer in the Hamptons? As is standard, a number of new restaurants will be opening their doors this summer. Today we'll take a quick look at some of the standouts.
Town Line BBQ has been generating a good bit of buzz for a barbecue joint. Eater had this to say back in April:
The space is owned by Mark Smith and Honest Management Company, who operate the massively successful Nick & Toni’s, as well as Rowdy Hall, La Fondita and Villa Italian Specialties. Pitmaster/chef at Townline will be Joe Realmuto.
According to Newsday, the menu will focus on Texas-style BBQ. A mid-June opening is expected. Town Line BBQ will be located in Sagaponack at 3593 Townline Road.
Hamptons.com has the details on Muse Restaurant & Aquatic Lounge in Water Mill:
The restaurant is the first such venture for chef-owner Matthew Guiffrida formerly of the The Patio in Westhampton Beach, Collage in Huntington and Inn at Quogue in Quogue. Completely revamped and outfitted with a top-of-the-line kitchen, the restaurant features unique design elements yet to been seen in a Hamptons eatery. The aquatic lounge houses a salt-water fish tank bar top, a water wall, window seats, and a candlelit chandelier.
Last week we wrote about Prime 103, a new Steak House, Sushi Bar, and Lounge in East Hampton.
Newsday offer this preview of Tutto Il Giorno, a new contemporary Italian in Sag Harbor:
It's always news when a hot Manhattan food talent hits the Hamptons. This summer, Scott Conant, formerly of L'Impero and Alto, is consulting chef at this sunny yellow space across from the Sag Harbor marina. Conant's contemporary Italian menu is executed by chef Benito Trombetta (who cooked at Il Buco in Manhattan) and sous chef Matthew Purcell (who was at Almond in Bridgehampton). The restaurant's name, which means "all day" in Italian, refers to the fact that it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
The writers from the Beach also stopped by Tutto Il Giorno, and they left happy:
This is good food by New York, not East End, standards. For lunch, do not miss the soft shell crab sandwich, the best thing on ciabatta bread you're going to eat this summer. Prices are at least reasonable-ish, hovering in the neighborhood of $11 for apps, $17 for pastas and $22 for entrees—but the $55 macaroni and cheese with truffles is conspicuously missing. Open for previews now, with an official open to follow the weekend of June 1.
