Venue Review: The Brick Store Pub (Atlanta - Georgia)

The Brick Store Pub, open for nearly ten years, has probably done more to educated the people of Atlanta on the delicacies of American craft brews and fine Belgian imports than any other bar in Atlanta. We'd say more so than anyone, but that wouldn't be fair to the guys at Sweetwater.

Located on the Courthouse Square in Downtown Decatur, The Brick Store Pub serves excellent, traditional pub fare, though the draw for most is the beer. About that beer. Brick Store spans two floors, and they divide their beer selection in similar fashion--the downstairs bar serves American craft brews and other fine imports, while the upstairs Belgian Bar exclusively pours Belgian beers--but don't worry, you can order from either bar, whether you are seated upstairs or downstairs. There are hundreds of bottled beers, but your best bet is to choose from the always rotating selection of drafts. In the Belgian Bar, you'll get to choose from eight beers--some of which you've heard of, others which you probably have not heard of--all of which are going to be excellent. Downstairs, you'll get to choose from about a dozen different beers. Some of these rarely change--Sweetwater's excellent IPA is a stalwart--while other beers come and go, depending on the season (during last summer's World Cup, the pub featured a few Hefeweizens, which were served in appropriately large volumes).
