Venue Preview: Runway - Lounge (NYC - New York City)

This Saturday marks the grand opening of Runway Lounge, a new fashion-inspired space on East 28th Street. NY Mag's Daily Intelligencer Blog had some details on the interior (with an architectural sketch) back in March, the highlight of this report being the reportedly 25-foot long catwalk, which will run down the center of the space.

For the Grand Opening this Saturday (the 14th), Rev Run of RUN DMC will be performing. DJ Mel DeBarge will be DJing. If you're interested in attending--rumor has it that Lindsay Lohan will be hosting--RSVP to Reddstylez@aol.com.

Opening tonight with a bash hosted by Ashlee Simpson and May Andersen, Runway is a fashion-themed club (from owners Greg Barrias and Rich Messina) where the catwalk crowd can network, mingle and party (you know, in the same way plumbers want to kick back after a hard day's labor at a bar called Pipes).

Fashion industry cues start in the foyer, where one wall is covered with model comp cards (headshots to you and us). In the main room, there's a mural of Twiggy from back in her heyday. And three small steps lead you up to the space's signature piece: a 17-foot backlit runway, which will be used for vamping, dancing and all around model-induced carousing.

This is one of the best GAY bars I have ever been to. It definitely is up there with Therapy, XES Lounge, and GYM Sports Bar. I was making out with dudes the second I came in and took about 3 home with me. It was !SUPER! fun. I love boys and I will definitely come back here.
