Venue Review: Abbey - Los Angeles (LA)

Abbey
692 N Robertson Blvd (@Santa Monica Blvd)
West Hollywood, CA 90069
(310) 289 8410
website

This West Hollywood hangout may have a predominantly gay clientele, but it is laid back enough to make everybody feel at ease.  The various hideaway rooms at the Abbey are romantically lit in warm reds and earth tones.  The menu is a tasty blend of influences from all over the world, and the cocktail menu is wide and strong.  While refreshingly down to earth, a night at the Abbey will leave you with a respectable bar tab.

Here’s what Citysearch & Digital City had to say about the Abbey.

Venue Review: Bryant Park Grill - New York City (NYC)

Bryant Park Grill
25 W. 40th St (@ 6th Ave)
New York, NYC 10018
(212) 840 6500

Overlooking The New York Public Library’s midtown park, the Bryant Park Grill has heavy seasonal traffic and loads of business suits during lunch and right after work.  The kitchen whips up some tasty nouveau American cuisine.  The bar scene is laid back, but there is a pick up vibe here.  The views of the part are stunning, and expect the place to be crowded especially during the Summer with outdoors musicians (and movies in the park) and in the Winter with holiday shoppers & tourists.

Venue Review: Vida - Washington, Washington DC

Vida
1120 20th St, NW
Washington, DC 20036
(202) 293 5433

Vida serves double duty as a refreshingly moderately priced South American restaurant as well as a lounge/dance club vibe later on at night.  The “Wine Room” feels like a walk-in humidor.  The full bar can accommodate table & bottle service, and there are spacious rooms that can accommodate private parties.  The owners strove for authenticity having traveled extensively across South America.

Venue Review: Capitale - New York City (NYC)

Capitale
130 Bowery
New York, NYC 10013
(212) 334 5500
website

This posh restaurant/nightclub was once the Bowery Savings Bank erected in the 19th century.  The Grand Venetian Ballroom is positively cavernous with 65 foot ceilings.  It is equipped with a state of the art digital sound system, and it can accommodate live musical acts as well as DJs.  While still expansive, the East Ballroom is perfect for a pre-function.  Under the leadership of superstar chef Fred Brightman, Capitale’s 3 kitchens provide diners with superlative dishes of classical French New American, and other influences at either ballroom, 4 private rooms, and a lower lounge.

Venue Review: Forge - Miami

Forge
432 W. 41st St (@ Royal Palm Ave)
Miami Beach, FL 33140
(305) 538 8533
website

Forge stands out in South Beach for its elegance, superlative service, and ornate classical interiors.  While primarily a steakhouse, Forge excels at seafood as well.  The wine list is eminently respectable and perfectly matches the menu.  Of course being in South Beach means more than a handful of celebrities and glamour, but Forge has staying power well past hotspots that fizzle out.
